Dr Monasterio (MB ChB, FRANZCP, Sr Clinical Lecturer) is a New Zealand registered medical doctor and specialist in psychiatry, with subspecialty training in Forensic Mental Health and Consultation/Liaison Psychiatry. He has been a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, and member of the Forensic Faculty since 2001.
Dr Monasterio has 13 years clinical experience in general psychiatry, cross-cultural psychiatry and all aspects of forensic care. Dr Monasterio also has a range of research interests and has published original research findings in international peer reviewed journals. Areas of interest and publication include: Personality Characteristics of extreme sports people, psychiatric presentations in the developing world and metabolic complications associcated with antipsychotic medications.
